HERIN REST THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES IN THE SINKING OF THE USS SERPENS WORLD WAR II JAN 29 1945

In Arlington National Cemetery resides the USS Serpens monument, cut of Georgian granite. This monument is etched with the names of the men that perished on January 29th in Guadalcanal.

United States Coast Guard Reserve Chief Warrant Officer Edward Kruska, Master Chief Mark Allen together with Flags Across America and the Washington D.C. Chiefs Petty Officer's Association have taken the incentive to bring this compelling story back into life. This crew has continue honor the men that served and died aboard this ship by providing a memorial service in Arlington National Cemetary.

The USS Serpens Monument was dedicated on Thursday, November 16, 1950 Vice Admiral Merlin O'Neill, Commandant, U.S. Coast Guard gave a brief address. "We cannot undo the past,... but we can insure... that these men shall be respected and honored forever."
